to SG1 : you said " I don't think you've spoke many woman about that, trust me that's when size does matter LOL " .
Well, I read your point . We probably don't go around with the same type of women, then.

Please may I throw a small pebble in a very large pond ? " A technically perfect photograph can be the world's most boring picture. " Andreas Feininger. Just a thought.

What i find sooo amusing is that Mr.Porcine searcher has made the statement that we should 'judge for ourselves' as to how good 50mp is.
If his results are anything to go by then 50mp is no good at all! The images are all soft and the highlights are blown to smithereens on the T-45s due to poor editing.
A classic case of 'all the gear and no idea' if ever i saw one.........I'll get me coat........

I think this whole thread is really pretty silly.

Given that most of us will be viewing it on monitors that are 1920 x 1080 pixels or lower i.e. less than 2.07 megapixels, even if the images we were provided were full resolution we are hardly equipped to make a reasonable judgement.

The comparison is made even more invalid because the art of post processing is a very subjective art, and also the quality of the result is determined by the skill level of the post processor to along with their level of knowledge.

The only real way to tell would be to see test images taken of a similar or ideally the same aircraft, under the same lighting conditions, at full resolution, taken with two camera bodies of comparable nature but using glass of comparable or ideally identical quality.

I don't think we have been given the tools to make this judgement at all.

I had the chance to look at an original .CR2 image from a friend who has a 5DS and I have to say that I was very impressed at the level of detail the picture had. However, echoing your comment Chris, that detail was lost when the image was reduced down to (my usual) 1600 pixels.

The 5DS and 5DR would be absolutely stupendous cameras if your printed out your work at larger sizes but for general web presentation, I'm afraid to say that a 5D mk III could have done the same job at 1600 pixels.

You are correct in that assumption Chris, people say Canon is best, other people say Nikon is best....hell, I even read someone saying Sony is best!

The true answer to that is simple. Tina Turner is Simply the Best, or so I'm told.

It doesn't matter how many mega pixels you have or what percent it scored in some dodgy online review, the biggest part is the capability of the photographer. Having a big posh camera will help, as will having a decent lens and the weather plays a big part too. You can have the best of everything but if the person taking the pictures is a tool then its all a waste!

You're absolutely correct. What I have seen online however are some impressive crops from these cameras - mainly for bird images. Having said that your basic technique still has to be good with effective lighting, after all an extract from a high MP image in poor light with camera shake is still rubbish no matter how good your gear
