Blackcat1 and Warthog,
Thanks for posting, I was beginning to think I was going quite round the twist. Even that last post to you Blaccat 1, all one can sya is these chaps are brilliant at defending the indefensible, therefore should serve the colours, if not already doing so!

I remember the cold war plan was something like 5 bases! During the 1990s from memory it was going to be 232 Typhoons and 3 bases.
Now they follow all the eggs in one basket approach with just Coningsby and Lossiemouth.
If Tempest does go ahead I wonder how few of those there will be.

And yet none of this answers the original question regarding capability gaps. Jaguar’s withdrawal led to reduced mass but not a capability gap, unlike the aforementioned withdrawal of Harrier GR/ Nimrod/ Sentry.

I was just stating that Jag was at top of its game & had a few years left in her when she was retired. Didn’t expect a quarrel about it on this usually friendly forumFinty wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 4:31 pmBlackcat1 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 3:21 pmOk wind your neck inNorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 2:56 pm

Let’s stop the “droaning” on
we have no influence over the MOD, government , Ruskies or little green men. So best if we all just let it go. Chill out and have a beer or a milkshake.
Peace Man!!

I'm working tonight (well I say working, but you know what I mean) so I still can't have a Beer and I haven't got access to Milkshakes, so I'll have a Sugar Free Red Bull or something.

Anyway back to topic. Apologies to big boss Mike etc, it’s been a long working evening with a funeral thrown in too. So not the best of days for me.
