Poor? So the B-52's cancel and now the show looks "poor" there's plenty to see that I have never seen before. I'm gutted they have cancelled but throwing your toys out the pram is hardly justified
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Flying prevails whenever a man and his airplane are put to a test of maximum performance.

Probably coz' everybody was becoming far to happy about the content? IIRC....."The Lord giveth & the Lord taketh away, often!" (Supra 10:4)

Exactly. Thing with RIAT, until its on the ground it is not 100%.James Cutting wrote: ↑Tue Jul 12, 2022 11:54 amBelieve it all when it's down in the tarmac and actually seen - especially the E-4
Shame about the B52's
Sadly other cancelleations will happen over the next few days, it happens.

I wish everyone shared that thought. That applies for every single aircraft there.
Back after 2020, then 2021 cancelled, everyone said we'd be lucky to have RIAT back. Well, we are lucky as it's back and people are back moaning about it.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I find the drama caused by a single cancellation absolutely baffling. "show looking poor compared to previous years" whilst a personal opinion and not one anyone can disagree with as its a personal opinion seems a little harsh. This year appears to have one of the highest airframe count and certainly countries count for a while. Just seen a post on UKAR from a guy who is no longer going over the weekend based entirely on the cancellation of the buff, Amazing !!
Whilst like everyone else I'm disappointed as id have loved to have seen it particularly in the flying programme, there is still so much good stuff to look forward too and one (two) aircraft don't make the entire show. I think a grip on reality is needed a little.

It's a shame, sure, but I am still looking forward to having a great show with lots of variety of aircraft from countries I've never seen before.
B-52s will be flying for like at least another 20 years, plenty of time to see them.
In my opinion people are expecting too much of the show. Just wait it out and have a good time. Even with the few cancellations we have, don't forget there will be over 160 military airframes (maybe 150 if another few are cancelled), where else do you see that much?
And don't forget another 50 civil planes to go with that (even though I personnaly am not too interested in those, at least the warbirds are still cool i my opinion)
Cancellations happen, that's just how it goes..
At least I know that I will have great fun looking at all those hours of flying over the weekend!

That such a shame about the B-52s but these things happen hope nothing else cancels and everything listed arrives.
I wonder if DBH will try to fill the gaps left by them? Otherwise some quick rearranging of the static and flying program will probably be needed.

look, I agree, however,
you surely understand that everyone would rather b-52s than some hercs with nothing different apart from the flag and the reg.
the b-52s are iconic, surely?
and by the way we still have some of the best display teams in the world, so don't be two downhearted!

That will be some stuff in the official program being wrong, I wonder if there has ever been one where everything in it was correct?

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
I'm sure the organisers have a joker or two up their sleeves. Personally I'm more concerned about the weather. Gonna be an absolutely furnace on Sunday. Makes a change to the last time I was there, huddled in me anorak looking forlornly for breaks in the rain cloud while the commentators tried to cheer us all up.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
They could still show up remember a certain raf e-3 that cancelled and then turned up.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
But if I wanted to see B-52s in the UK I'd go to Fairford when they were deployed here. When was the last time a Korean C-130 was deployed to the UK? As it happens neither are coming so it really doesn't matter.

Got my ticket for Saturday now I can't wait
I have heard there is a ' special event ' happening for Saturday but no other information?
Apologies if already discussed in pages 1-46

Wasn’t the NATO flypast only announced on the day of the show in 2019, similarly the B-2 flypasts on previous years?

There was definitely something on the Saturday in 2019 that got announced on the day, may have been the Red Arrows & Patrouille de France combined display.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 - General Discussion Thread
Re. B-52; reported on UKAR that one made an emergency landing at Nellis yesterday. That could explain why the two aircraft, from different bases, cancelled.
