Said before if you want a good airshow this year , spend your RIAT money on a trip to one of the big shows in the United states.
Book now you will get a good deal on flights and hotel. Most of the shows are free or very cheap to enter.
Year for a Bucket list tick.

Errrrmmmm..................what makes you think that any big US air shows are going to go ahead, or have I missed something?Richard B wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:01 pmSaid before if you want a good airshow this year , spend your RIAT money on a trip to one of the big shows in the United states.

That's good seeing a Mod promoting travel to and from the country in the middle of a worsening pandemic...
US shows starting to fall like dominoes.

There must be a hidden link between those who think RIAT is going to take place and those who are trying to convince us that Covid 19 is all a hoax. Hopefully one day they will all come to their senses.

Anyone who thinks the pandemic is a hoax needs to be sectioned and locked away!

Whoa! That's a bit of harsh dig at the mods again - Miramar and Oceana are usually in the autumn a similar time as the Sanicole show you are hoping to do in the other thread.James Cutting wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 4:42 pmThat's good seeing a Mod promoting travel to and from the country in the middle of a worsening pandemic...US shows starting to fall like dominoes.

You could have just said fingers crossed.
Let's see what happens but I won't be rushing out to book early ferries or flight deals.
Also you might find the US bases will go to a ' no foreign nationals' status for 2021?

That was quite a few weeks if not months ago I said that, Mike, and my view of that happening this year is pretty much that it won't much like RIAT and US shows. Original comment still stands.
"Harsh dig at the MODS again" - No, it was just the one, don't take it personally.
And if the US bases say that then don't go saying "Go to America! Cheap flights and hotels! Don't worry about COVID!"

These musings helpfully show we're going to be a fair way through 2021 before we know how the rest of 2021 will look.
Only the brave and rich will make expensive-to-abandon plans until at least April is my guess.

I was actually thinking about air show organisers rather than spotters - until you mentioned that

That was done last September, when things were "better" (in some ways) at no cost so rather pointless comment there. As the show was rolling over to 2021, the hotel I booked for 2020 could be rolled over as well, so silly not toplmc135 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 10:10 amOr even reserve hotels in Belgium now for a show later in the yearpage_verify wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 9:38 amThese musings helpfully show we're going to be a fair way through 2021 before we know how the rest of 2021 will look.

So hopefully your reservation is now cancelled preventing overseas travel which in your own words it is not the smartest thing to encourage. Cannot have one rule for one and another for yourself.

Which it is. Can't have people jumping to conclusions and knowing it all like you so often do.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2021 - General Discussion Thread
I don't see any prospect of RIAT 2021 happening. I hope I'm wrong but I dont think there is a cat in hells chance of any large events taking place.
I cannot see air crew being allowed to go and the logistics on the ground will be a nightmare.
1500 volunteers are involved in RIAT, time is given up willingly.
Much of the grunt work is covered by air cadets many of whom work in close proximity including sleeping, catering and toilets The air cadet organisation is not going to leave themselves wide open to litigation.
And what of emergency personnel cover ?
I suspect by July most members of the NHS and paramedic ambulance teams will want a rest at home with their families not stuck with strangers on an air base for 5 days.
