How poor is the view when the aircraft are landing at the other end (I'm using a 400mm lens but don't really want a load of taxying aircraft pics)? I can't decide whether to do Waddington or the Loop tomorrow.Sheff wrote:Not very - the wind direction suggests that aircraft will be landing from the south over the next couple of days.
Cheers Sheff. I'm more in favour of the Loop now. Good luck with the shots to all who'll be at Waddo tomorrow!Sheff wrote:Depends what you want. If (as i assume) landings are from the south, then you're obviously not going to get any landing shots. On the other hand you can get a decent image of aircraft turning-off at the end of the runway which is pretty close to the A15 (200mm would probably be big enough). Take-off images are probably not worthwhile from the A15 as they will probably be pretty high by the time that they get over there. Runway direction isn't going to affect display rehearsals of course so you will definitely be better-off outside the airfield for those.

Tickets checked on entrance to the Base, Everywhere else like verges are coned off for Miles, but if u can find somewhere 2-3 miles out and walk to near the wave people watch out theirpilot_ngb wrote:Don't shoot me down on this request.
I can't afford to attend this year but am driving down. I would like some genuine feedback on where I can watch. Last year I saw many people on the north east corner of the airfield. Is that easily accessible from the show car parks (by foot). Last year I parked in the official parking and walked into the site. Tickets were not checked until after the car park. Same again this year?
The best place to watch from the outside is on verge of the A15 (Runway 20 end). Position yourself down by the WAVE viewing area and preserved Vulcan (XM607). I can't answer your query on car parking, but the nearest area not coned off will be in Bracebridge Heath. From Bracebridge Heath (Sycamore Grove) to the WAVE is approximately one mile.pilot_ngb wrote:Don't shoot me down on this request.
