Least favourite aircraft?
Least favourite aircraft?
Hello everyone,
We all have a favourite aircraft, if that be present or from the past. But my question to you all is...
What’s your least favourite aircraft and why?..controversial I know and it’s going to spark a lot of outrage but stick with it, I think it might be interesting.
Mine is
The Vulcan.
Ive been a spotter since 1986 and it seemed like every airshow you went to there were people trying to raise funds for it..so much so I got sick of the sight of the thing..anyway onto you all
Gary

Because they replaced the Phantom:
F-16
F-15
F-14
Tornado GR series
Tornado F.2 and F.3
Jaguar
Typhoon
Hawk (19,74 and 92)
A-10
F-18
Get the drift?

Fairchild A-10A Thunderbolt II.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
You only have to have the words "favourite" and "aircraft" , in a thread, and the Mighty Toom always comes up.
Least favourite, 2 in particular. XH558, fed up with all the Meat and two veg that surrounds this, and also it's non displays at Leuchars for its last show there in RAF hands, and its first show under VTTS, or whatever they were called back then. JY-RWB a Dash 8, on a flight from Aqaba to Amman. The only time I ever came close to being airsick. I may have had a bit of a dodgy gut anyway, but the throttling up and down, on the approach into Amman, didn't help.

F-35 - ruinously expensive, massively late, over budget, sub par performance, all things it was sold and promised it wouldn't be!
F-22 - Ugly, especially from the side, comedy clown's tricycle undercarriage, suffered from a propensity of trying to suffocate it's pilots, and succeeding on at least one occasion...

Re: Least favourite aircraft?
For me the X-32 is a clear front runner. It’s my candidate for the ugliest aircraft to have ever left the ground.
I think it lost the competion with the F-35 on looks alone.

Re: Least favourite aircraft?
Sorry to be controversial but even though I've never seen one in real life I think the F-22 Raptor is the ugly sister of the F-15 Eagle.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
I've never seen an ugly aircraft.
If it flies, (or designed to fly) then I like it.
There is a civvy Rallye that comes close though. It has a weird tailfin.

Re: Least favourite aircraft?
I’ve got to agree with Osprey, absolute shocker.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
For me it is any aircraft in a museum,to me it's like looking at a stuffed animal, aircraft are meant to move and make noise and when they are still and quiet and you know they will never move under their own power again it just doesn't feel right although i do of course realise that a dead aircraft is better than no aircraft at all.Mark.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
Sorry but the Harrier was always available for close support when help was needed. Wonderful aircraft, I will not comment further. (just my opinion)

Re: Least favourite aircraft?
You didn't fly them obviously Scarecrow. Strange an RAF person would run down such a great aircraft that served well, you should be ashamed of yourself!! :-).
F35 because it's ugly and has killed off everything

Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
Probably those slightly smaller scale replicas of iconic warbirds that look like the real thing from a distance, but up close look weird compared to the real thing. They're rather annoying.

Re: Least favourite aircraft?
Mine has to be the mig 29. It may provide a exciting airshow peace but from a tactical point of view it is absolutely useless.
Re: Least favourite aircraft?
Have to agree with IanM that the Boeing X32 was an example of 'if it don't look right, it an't right'. Ugliest plane I ever saw. Looked like a frog with a dinner plate in its mouth. Was very releived when it came second in the two-horse race!
