I think this is the first time the airport of Strasbourg gets mentioned here and most of the time this relatively small airport in the beautiful region Alsace isn't worth mentioning when it comes to military aviation.
Except some flights for the European Parliament with Government or Air Force planes and a few approaches of the french Air Force every month, this airport is mainly used for commercial aviation.
This month we had an outstanding amount of military movements due to the plenary session at the Parliament, some training flights and an open day.

Royal Air Force BAe 146 while parking on the alpha apron with some dark clouds and even a rainbow in the background.

The french C-135FR are more or less regular training visitors at SXB but mostly during bad times... Finally I was able to catch it during nice lighting conditions on approach for a single touch and go.

One of the many Army TBM700 shuttle flights every month.
This year's open day at Strasbourg Airport was bigger as usual and even some military planes joined the static display.

My personal highlight was this Mirage 2000D from Nancy-Ochey after the arrival last saturday evening.

Close-Up of the Mirage 2000D on the apron.

A400M after the arrival minutes before sunset...

Overview of the apron, remembers me of the old times of the Entzheim air base but now with new aircraft.

The Army Tigre departed on sunday evening after the event and made a spectacular low pass above the static area...sadly I wasn't prepared for that...

I hope you enjoyed this little report about an underrepresented french airport. Feel free to leave a comment.

Cheers
