F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
downhilldave,
Trying to ascertain when something is due is one thing, making endless postings on eGroups which are nothing more than speculation, guesswork or wishful thinking is another.
I too used to have to do a 9 hour roundtrip to get to Mildenhall or Lakenheath and now consider myself lucky that it's down to 5 hours if there is no traffic.
As for how long they are staying, I remind you of a posting from page two of this thread and the comment from the man who serves coffee to Raptor pilots.

He also confirmed 2 weeks for their stay"

Oh, I completely agree about the speculation posing as fact - it makes it very difficult to sort out the wheat from the chaff.
Yeah, I did see the post from Binks92 but as another of his posts, re the 22s already being here, was refuted by another member it's difficult to know how much weight to give it. Your point entirely, in fact! I hope they are here for two weeks - I can fit an LN day into a messy schedule!

Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
FYI, a source (who relies on a 48FW source) on FB mentioned an arrival of the F-22s for Sunday 1430GMT...
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Didn't somebody else here state they personally spoke to a "fully dressed F22 pilot" who said they were already here?????
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
And they should be coming from the East and not across the Atlantic.pjotrtje wrote:FYI, a source (who relies on a 48FW source) on FB mentioned an arrival of the F-22s for Sunday 1430GMT...

There are no F-22s at Lakenheath! The man serving coffee will have spoken to one of the pilots who has come over by air transport ready for the fighters arrival. A classic case of putting two and two together and not coming up with four!

So these days fighter pilots catch a lift with air transport whilst their aircraft are flown over for them??raameagle wrote:There are no F-22s at Lakenheath! There will always be more pilots than aircraft on a deployment, how did you think all the other guys get to their destination?
Cheers

Sometimes yes, l was at a Fairford Avn Society meeting yrs ago,we had a surprise talk from a B2 crew.....the first UK visit by a B2 was next day, it landed at Ffd, the crew we saw the previous evening swapped with the incoming crew and left in the B2, the other crew going back to Whiteman in a less glamourous a/c, just as the relief crew had arrived in. Not an unusual occurance at all to have more pilots than jets on a fighter deployment, they dont all fly in on the type deployinggavin.biggs wrote:So these days fighter pilots catch a lift with air transport whilst their aircraft are flown over for them??raameagle wrote:There are no F-22s at Lakenheath! Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Very true - One B-2 crew were at the end of the runway selling patches and stickers when the 1st aircraft arrived. Same with the U-2 swap outs - pilots that may fly onto destination or back to the US are already at Fairford waiting for the planes - they fly in commerciallyjoe spares wrote:Sometimes yes, l was at a Fairford Avn Society meeting yrs ago,we had a surprise talk from a B2 crew.....the first UK visit by a B2 was next day, it landed at Ffd, the crew we saw the previous evening swapped with the incoming crew and left in the B2, the other crew going back to Whiteman in a less glamourous a/c, just as the relief crew had arrived in. Correct, and if 6 aircraft deploy, they don’t just have the 6 ‘ferry’ pilots to fly during the deployment. All of the other pilots go civair or by military charter/transport and are usually in position (jet lag rested etc) ready to start flying straight away.

Or alternatively it was a case of putting two and two together and coming up with the correct answer. Post in heads up confirms a 1500 arrival for today, a mere 30 minutes difference from the original suggestion. Sometimes you do need to believe what is hopefully an accurate post, we cannot however allow for the failings of the USAF.raameagle wrote:There are no F-22s at Lakenheath! Raptors on their way then. Any sign of F-35s or was that part false?
Also, is Lakenheath closed tomorrow for the U.S. holiday?

If you read my post correctly I just stated the fact that there were no F-22s at Lakenheath at the time that the man in the coffee shop was saying 'they are already here'! I never said anything about them not coming.
As has already been posted, all being well, the sound of freedom will once again grace the fence at Lakenheath this afternoon...

Yes. Normal procedure for most deployments.gavin.biggs wrote:So these days fighter pilots catch a lift with air transport whilst their aircraft are flown over for them??raameagle wrote:There are no F-22s at Lakenheath!
