Waddington ACMI 2003

Post by LTFT5 » Thu Jan 26, 2017 6:40 pm

Hi to all,
It has been awhile since I last posted anything so feeling nostalgic I decided to start scanning some old prints.
Quality is not great but the subject matter is what counts
These where taken at Waddington during the ACMI held in May of 2003.
Great day with some great movements from the deployed Harriers and Tornado`s
If anybody wishes to add digital images from the same ACMI please feel free.

Very nice to see some RAF with markings.

ACMI was a great source of numbers but a heck of a drive.

Lovely and nostalgic pics. Interesting that all of the military aircraft in the pictures have been retired, but the FRA Falcon is still going strong! Wonder what type they would replace them with eventually.

R1 Nimrod looks great.

The Falcon 20 was built in 1967!! according to Airframes.org and delivered to the Canadian Armed Forces

Hi Paddyboy :P
Never thought they would retire, just shows what we take for granted.

Hi Jon, great days indeed.

Never thought I would be nostalgic with regards to the F3 as it replaced the Frightning but I am now.

She sure did

Thanks to all for the replies, once I get use to scanning slides I will post from the last 70s.

All the best

Cracking set Andy  Must have a collection with very similar views as that fence line was always a great magnet for photographers on a good sunny day.
Thanks for posting

Hi Keith, That fence line was a great place to take shots from, always enjoyed visiting the ACMI.

Have to agree, there does not seem to be the variety of aircraft anymore either.

Thanks to all for the kind comments

Hi Andy,
What a great day that was, some great movements by the Harriers and the F3s.
The F3s lined up ready to depart is a great shot and I can still smell the aviation fuel.
The ACMI was a great event at Waddington but sadly became too costly for the range to continue.
Thanks for posting.
