December 2016 Specialist Photo of the Month Competition

This month’s subject is: Photo of the Year 2016 - your best image (within the forum posting rules!) taken during 2016.

If in doubt, feel free to ask a member of staff!

Photography Competition Rules
1. Only one entry per user, unless posting on behalf of another person who is unable to do so themselves (children for example). If this is the case, please state so on your entry.
2. The photograph can have been taken at any time
3. The image can be photo-shopped to some extent, levels changes, cropping, sharpening etc. are all acceptable. The photograph must retain it’s initial subject though, don’t make it something it’s not, (cutting and pasting the moon into the shot or another aircraft, for example). HDR images are not acceptable. If you are unsure, please PM a staff member.
4. The competition will remain open until 23.59 on the 1st January 2017 (UK time), to enable anyone with last minute entries some breathing space.
5. The voting will be carried out by you, the members of FC - viewtopic.php?f=127&t=73830
6. Please do not comment on photos other than your own.
7. The voting decision is final.
8. All images must be posted in line with the usual FC posting rules.
9. Photos that are not within the guidelines of the competition are subject to being deleted.
10. The rules may be subject to change, and these will be posted on this thread.
11. The winning entry will also be posted on AeroResource with full credit given

Highlight of my year was the Jaded Thunder exercise at Otterburn, where not only were we treated to some great canon fire from the A10's and some nice pics of them, but two of these Killer Eggs were working the range, and we got loads of pics of them. This is one of my favourites.

Built for war and lovingly preserved by the veterans who flew it. Sunset in the smoky mountains.

My favourite was not only catching this Hellenic Air Force F-4E Phantom arriving for RIAT, but also having two F-22's parked in the background. Definitely old meets new.

The start-up procedure on a Hawker Hunter, using a special gas cartridge which then spews black smoke from small vents after firing. Taken at Bruntingthorpe August 2016 during the display of 'Cold War Jets'.

Having shot similar angles at Brunty over the last few year it was a nice surprise to find they were shuttling people down the runway to allow for this shot..

LN boys with the best departure of RIAT 2016! Had many shots, so was a hard choice, but went with this :)

A toss up between the Coningsby Nightshoot in March and Cosford's Jaguar Taxi day for me - however, I've gone for this Typhoon shot as it was featured on the BBC News website recently!

I'll go for this one from departures day at RIAT with an F4 photobombing my shot of a stately home.

All in all a fantastic year, so many to choose from ( in my humble opinion  ) but I am going to plump for a little action shot. Taken at RNAS Yeovilton Agusta Westland Merlin HC3i ZJ137 takes part in the spectacular end of show airfield assault. A bit of warmth to close out the cold of winter :thumb:
