Advice for labelling Patches

Post by Rob666 » Thu Nov 10, 2016 10:52 pm

Evening,

Sorry for the strange question but I am looking to place on the back of my patches a small label which hold info where purchased, Squadron, what patch celebrates etc. Clearly most of the info will be obvious but I want to label to remember as the grey cells fail.

All my patches either have no Velcro or Velcro. Does anyone have a brand or advice what will work on both surfaces and stay on.

Many thanks

Rob

Personally I use clear plastic CD pockets to keep each patch in, then use a sticker on the back of the pocket. Finding something that will stay on the back of Velcro will be nigh on impossible without the other half of the Velcro backing.

Keeps the patches clean too, in case the sticker leaves anything behind when peeled off. :thumb:

Thanks Sam for the reply, maybe change my system complelety. I do have the smooth Velcro finish on the patches I.e I believe it's the Female side which I have purchased and cut to fit.

I store all my patches in some archival safe CD sleeves that I number, and then have a word document with the info of: number, where bought, date bought and what the patch is for
/from. That gets printed as each page is filled.
If you haven't seen the fantastic Lakenheath Patches Blog-spot and his thoughts on collectibles vs artifacts it is well worth a look.

But if you are going for writing on the patches I'd recommend against it as long term adhesive can eat fabric. Better to store them in sleeves with an insert.
