despite the remarks re it being ugly I quite like it , but perhaps in a few years time I may regret this post due to my location , but there again I am deaf in one ear so can always turn off the hearing trumpet
Having seen/heard it fly for 3 days at RIAT (one in the show and two with it on my face at Totterdown) I must say that on take off it sounds very much like a Tornado, except deeper and even more crackly. This is a very good thing as it means we wont be loosing that distinctive roar/rumble that a Typhoon (even though more powerful) doesn't have. The RAF will of course use it to its full potential so I would reckon it will nearly always fly with everything going bolted to the outside. Therefore I think it will be a grower as when tooled up it looks a lot easier on the eye.
Drastic Plastic?? & there was me thinking Marham FD. was the justification for the 3 examples at Fairford hanging about for another week! Not like they needed a weeks crew-rest after the 'exhausting' displays at Farnborough?
PS:-F-35 Public opinion from comments made by the Grockle Massif (Airshow freeloading families) at Farnborough was... "excited & welcoming the first chance to see it followed by, was that it??.. Doesn't fly as good as the Harrier!...Is the Harrier displaying today?...& when are the Red Arrows displaying?
