Airfix 1/48th Martin EB-57B

Post by PaulN » Tue Jun 14, 2016 1:04 pm

Hi All

Just finished this "simple" conversion of the Airfix B-57 kit . Been wanting to make this for a while after seeing a lot of the both over here an in the States during the 70's , always like the scheme :thumb:

Started as mentioned with the basic Airfix B-57 , and bought the Lone Stare Models conversion along with a CMK cockpit which fits the kit a treat :thumb: just had to slightly modify the rear panel for the EW fit and add ESCAPAC seats , the LSM conversion is OK , but I think the parts are a bit over scale :S but it represents the additions for the EW fit , decals for a Vermont ANG machine are all from the spares box

Xtracolor enamel and Alclad varnish used through out

Thanks for looking :thumb:

Paul

Very nice. I really like a Canberra/B-57 with a fighter type canopy, any plans to do a tooled up camouflaged one ?
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Having the canopy in that position in the middle, and a twin seat long version, makes that plane look so much better than the RAF versions I reckon. The PR9 looks brilliant to me, until you look at it head on! Appreciate the reasons for it, just me and my love of aesthetics :)
