Sumos Over Japan!

Post by Matthew Clements » Mon May 02, 2016 5:36 pm

Afternoon,
During October 2015 I was fortunate enough to work with the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152 (VMGR-152) "Sumos" who operate the KC-130J out of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni which is locatedin the city of Iwakuni, Yamaguchi, Japan. Here are some shots from my time with VMGR-152 the the most forward deployed KC-130J Hercules unit in the entire USMC.

Air to air shots with prop blur are excellent. How did the crew feel about a flash being used in the cockpit?

Absolutely fine, but I always ask prior to using it anyway. As the flight progressed into the night they started using NVGs so the flash was dismounted from that point to even avoid accidental firing.

Glad everyone enjoyed the set, a really wonderful squadron with frantastic personnel.
