So far only 32 of us have signed out of umpteen thousand members and 1900 views of this thread?!

Seems the majority are on the side of the laser criminal?! :@

I've signed it,

I agree though, what we need is rigorous sentencing, make it a mandatory prison sentence. Then again the hand wringing do gooders will get in on the act to protect the human rights of the little darlings.

Banning them will do no good whatsoever. Pistols were banned, so now only criminals have them, and shootings have not lessened, in spite of what our wonderful, truthful leaders say

Nothing will be done as usual until there's a disaster, and there will be a enquiry chaired by some overpaid lackey, then a knee jerk reaction, followed by a wringing of hands, then something more important will hit the news such as some pop star going into rehab, the winner of I'm a celeb.....?..being announced, then it will be forgotten.

Am I being cynical :(

Hard labour ... lots of talk here about prison etc. Prison these days doesn't have the same fearful ring ... roof over your head, three meals a day, games and TV rooms ... that's punishment? ... how about chaining them together as IED hunters or just get them out road repairing or other hard labour exercises where they repay a dept to society instead of costing it.
What ever method it is needs to be a deterrent.

Education too will help ... to some young people (and yes I know not all perpetrators are young) hitting a moving aircraft with a laser light is seemingly fun ... teach them and show them the consequences and it may not appeal so much.
