Cad West Advice

Post by profile_m » Wed Aug 05, 2015 7:47 pm

Evening All,

I've managed to dupe/persuade the Mrs to go camping in north wales and by some strange coincidence :ninja: we're camping in the mach loop! Can't for the life of me work out how that happened

This will be my first time in the loop and i have no idea how to get up to cad west? Looking on an OS map there doesn't seem to be a public footpath so I was hoping someone could give me some directions please? Will be looking to park in the cad east/west car park in the bottom of the valley but no idea where to go from there :S

Hope some kind soul can help, please, pretty please!

Cheers

Martyn

The path up west is very obvious from the back of the car park. The car park is at the top of the valley not the bottom. Enjoy your trip

You can drive up to Cad East if you are in a car or very small van. Not so good for photos as Cad West though.

The path is where the style is over the fence...its impossible to miss and there are no other paths along the walk so you can't go wrong. Enjoy your trip - seeing stuff from Cad West is an amazing experience.
It's worth driving up in Cad East in the morning then doing west in the afternoon (for sunlight)

Thanks for the replies guys! When i said bottom of the valley i meant bottom as in the low point between the sides rather than the head or foot of the valley if that makes sense.

Can't wait to get up there with my camera, will post results if they're any good. Assuming anything comes through while i'm up there.

obvious to some but won't be to everyone, the scale is deceiving! Take it easy, take plenty of fluids, the walk up is harder than it might look, so check before you leave your car you've got everything you need!
Have a great time.

Cheers Tim,

Got the o/s map for the area so got a fair idea of the climb and it looks like a good old gradient! Will definitely be making sure I am prepared etc. Hopefully the weather will improve by the middle of the week.

Cad West is completely useless for photography until mid-afternoon, your shooting into the sun. Do Cad East until 1300 and then switch to west. If you don't want to move all day, do the Bwlch
