Great design, just a shame he's using the same spelling as last year. Shouldn't it be 'Saber' ?

Sabre is the English spelling and Saber is the American spelling.

Not sure about that. Who has heard of the F-86 Saber? Whatever, the exercise name is 'Saber' not 'Sabre', so the patch lettering needs changing.

Whether the exercise name is Sabre or Sabre depends who you ask. US Army page says Saber, NATO document says Sabre ;)

But its a pseudo USAF patch showing a USAF operated aircraft with 5th Bomb Wing Squadrons depicted, the UK spelling makes it look completely counterfeit

From memory the same debate happened last year, back then the designer of the patch said both he and the squadrons involved decided on the British spelling as the B-52s were based at Fairford. Which was / is common practice for the USAF to use the spelling from the country they are based during the exercise.

As the B-52s involvement was cancelled during last years BALTOPS / Sabre Strike, the squadrons involved changed the wording on the top part of the patch to 2d Air Expeditionary Group

The BALTOPS patch is now available on Ebay and has a £15ish price tag when postage is added on http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/B-52-2015-BAL ... 6016.l4276
