What kits would you like to see

Post by viper3111 » Sun Oct 11, 2009 6:35 am

Just for fun (and you never know what company is reading this) What subject would you like to see in which scale.
Mine would have to be following on from my Monogram 48th B-29 (which I may be doing a work in progress on here if I ever get round to building it), I would like to see a 48th B-36 peacemaker to go with it :O . The other would have to be a 32nd F-89 Scorpion :thumb:

An accurate injection-moulded Buccaneer S.2 in 1:32. Please Trumpeter, if the rumours are true, get it right.

1/72 C-5A/B  (how huge would that be!)

Failing that, a re-release of the 1/144 would be nice!

I would also quite like a model kit of the MC-12W, or Shadow R.1, 1/48 would be ideal.

C-124 in 1/72 scale

I've got one actually! It cost me £80 though but it's a beautiful kit (Anigrand, resin moulded). I've been meaning to get started on it for ages but I keep getting distracted by other kits doh!

I agree that a 32nd Buccaneer would be brilliant, and a Jaguar too. I'm sure they'll come along one day. I keep hoping that Revell will release a 32nd Canberra - it ought to be on their ideas list as Germany operated a few, and they'd make a much better job of it than Airfix did with their 48th scale kit.

I have lots of other "wish list" stuff too but I know that few (if any) will ever appear. They're just not commercial enough. For exanple, a 48th Varsity and a Hastings, a 48th Shackleton (not the ghastly vacform that you can get already), a decent Belfast, Argosy, Britannia, VC10 (that might actually happen though from what I hear)... ooh there's all sorts. Mind you, there's more than enough to keep me busy as it is!

I agree with all of the above, and be nice to see a 32nd Bucanneer released.!

What about some large scale Russian stuff.? TU-95 Bear's and TU-22 Backfire's in 72nd or even 48th.!!

A 1/72nd RAF VC-10 and Tristar in injection plastic would be just awesome..and a re-release of the C-5 is long overdue surely.?? :D

Some big fast jet in 1/24 - F-14, Tornado or something.

It would be huge, but think of who much fun it would be!

There's already a good kit of both the Bear and Backfire in 72nd scale!

VC10 is a bit unclear. Airfix were muttering about a "Vickers four-jet" a long time ago but they're saying that they're producing a Valiant now it seems, so I don't know if that means the VC10 was just a rumour... time will tell I guess.

As for 24th scale, seems that Airfix are saying that there will be a post-war jet in 24th scale after the Mosquito. I suspect it will be a Hawk as this was also mentioned a long time ago.

Thanks Sheff,, I hadn't realised Russian bombers such as that were available in 72nd..! Good one ..I must look into that..

And if Airfix release a Valiant, I'll be most impressed,, love to build one of those, 72nd would be nice.!!!

Still... you gotta love the VC-10, a 72nd version would be awesome.. come on Airfix, lets have both..!

Actually I'm supprised there hasn't been a 1/24th Tornado yet..

I think I saw some pictures of the 'proposed' airfix valiant but wasnt sure if this was just an idea they had or an actual test model. Either way it looked very impressive.
Trumpeter do the backfire in 72nd

Shame there isnt a 48th version as it would look smart next to my 48th B-1 (when I get round to makeing it, that is)

24th scale isn't a particularly big range so new kits in that scale are pretty rare. It's only the arrival of Trumpeter which seems to have rekindled interest in the scale. Airfix's Mosquito seems to be following the trend too, so maybe more 24th scale stuff will be on the way before too long.

As for Tornado, I can't complain as Revell's 32nd scale kit is brilliant. The new Hobbyboss 48th scale Tornado kits look promising too and although they probably won't be perfect, I'm hopeful that they will at least get the basic shape of the aircraft right! Out of all the Tornado kits in many scales, only Revell's 32nd kit seems to have got the shape just about right!

OOOhh where do i start.

1/32nd Scale

A good accurate F104G/S with a MBIQ7 seat.Although i am working on getting some saets from the USA.

A FGR2 Phantom.I know there is a chap who has done a very limited run conversion. But have you seen the price.

A Vampire or Venom.Again i know Matchbox have done this. But an update would be nice.

A Wessex HC2 Now there would be a thing.

Jim.

That kit has been a very quiet affair. When it was first announced, there was a bit of fuss from Glenn who runs Blackbird Models, as he claimed they'd basically copied his kit - although his kit is actually the old ID Models vacform which he bought off Doug Feeney when he ended his business. Whether it is a shameless copy is anyone's guess as I've never seen so much as a photo of the kit or a built-up example.

I assume the Oldmodel kit must be a little better though as the price is pretty hefty. But to be fair, if you're prepared to do the work, you can make a decent C-5 out of the Blackbird/ID kit, as the main component is just one big lump of fuselage plus two big wings! It's only the engines and undercarriage that need any real patience.

I'm far too lazy to even try though, but I've seen a few built-up and they look good. I might have another go at the old Revell 144th kit though if it ever re-appears!
