No BBMF or Reds...
Someone asked why the BBMF or Reds don't take part in the practice last year. I think their response was we don't need practice formation flying

I'm very likely to be in town on Saturday, the time given for the flypast on the previous page is 13.00, is that BST or UTC ?

Thanks

Hi
Anyone thinking of coming to London to take pics of the flypast, could try my usual spot south end of Watrerloo bridge or south of the river between the bridge and QE Hall. You will need a 2-300mm lens and get side on pics.Good luck I wont be there as Im on nights.

Loads of jets (east to west) over Northampton this morning but too overcast to see what they were.
Then cloud cleared at about 1115 hrs and pair of VC10s @ approx 5000ft, in very close formation (west to east).

Lovely sight!

Does anyone know whereabouts the Reds & the BBMF will slot into the formation on Saturday, as they are never in it when the formation comes inland from Southwold.
They usually slot in somewhere closer to London, but does anyone know the exact location?

Thanks

The route/timings PDF was on the Raf site but has now gone, The VRP/joining point is Fairlop station in north east london.

BBMF Route = Hold north of Cambridge at Waterbeach then to Newmarket,Halsteasd then Fairlop station. If anybody wants the PDF let me know as i think uploading it may not be allowed.

No information on the Reds, they may be doing Flypasts else where enroute.

No Lancaster for Flypast:
Raf wrote: Unfortunately the Lancaster is unable to take part in the Queens Birthday Flypast on Saturday 12 June 2010 as following a routine check it has been found that due to normal wear and tear one of the undercarriage struts needs to be replaced. Due to the age of the aircraft this could not be made and fitted in time for the Flypast on Saturday. However, it is hoped that the aircraft will be back in the air, completing planned displays within a week.
The flypast formation will, comprise of 29 aircraft, in order of appearance, as follows:

Aircraft Type/Number of Aircraft

Spitfire x1
Hurricane x1
Typhoon x 2
Tornado F3 x 2
Typhoon x 2
VC10 x 2
Tristar x 1
Tornado GR4 x 2
Sentinel x 1
HS125 x 2
Nimrod R1 x 1
Tornado GR4 x 2
E3D x 1
Red Arrows

Does anyone know why there are never any Hercules in the flypast? I have seen the flypast nearly every year & dont ever recall seeing Hercs in it.

Does anyone know if their exit route passes over RAF Northolt as they did last year? Me and the misses went up the mounds by the A40 Target Roadabout and got a great view.

There was a PDF map last year posted somewhere showing the route.

I believe they will go Northolt, Halton then direct to Brize. Either way the formation is going over Northolt :thumb:
