Kinloss closure??? Runway repairs completed

Post by Thunder » Wed Jun 02, 2010 7:26 pm

Have seen mentioned on a few topics that Kinloss is closing soon?

Any more info on this, and I take it is temporary closure.

TIA

It was only closed in the second half of last year as well or was in longer than? It doesn't seem that long ago. Only closed for a week so can't be much to do.

Cheers

The old Runway headings were 26/08, but were changed the last time Runway maintenance was carried out, last year I think.

Hi Adam, how's life?

You're spot on it was when the CQWI was on, your memory is much better than mine. This years CQWI isn't due to start till the 5th July so a few weeks after the repairs are due to be completed. You heading up this year at all?

Probably got nothing to do with the closure, but noticed yesterday that the track to the car park has been blocked. There's a beam across the enterance and is padlocked

Yes but there was a chap there on Tuesday who had a Transit van kitted out for camping - the Community Council don't like camping and if they find any tourists using the area they normally close it off for a few days until the culprits move on.

Noted the said van myself when I arrived around 9ish, although I can't remember it being there when I left at 2ish , was he/she a spotter or just a cheap skate :@

Yup,saw him myself.He had a white ? low-roof Transit van,a manky looking git that certainly wasn't a spotter/aviation photographer.He'd gone by 14.00 thankfully !
Anyway, spotters are all immaculate handsome chaps. :D

Both left today, seemingly a 2nd USN C130 was in today, can anyone confirm this? Airfield now closed for 10 days :(
