Just noticed on the Great War Display Team's website that they haven't listed Southport down as a display yet.

Lets hope the weather is good for the 20th & 21st!

There's a provisional timetable on the show's website.

Sundays was next to this where ever I found it , but I didn't copy that as I'm only going on the Saturday, and I can't for the life of me remember where it was!

Been a slight last minute change to the schedule as both the RR Spit and the Great War team have been withdrawn. Saturday now starts a little later , but has a Bulldog Tutor fly by.

We can't go to the airshow directly and park up and walk, and won't be attending the entire airshow, as I'm taking my dad who is quite poorly on chemotherapy, however I'm going to drive to the general area (obviously away from the busy parts) near the town, just to see the Lancasters.

From past experience, can anyone advise on what route the Lancasters might take into and out of the airshow over land? If I had that knowledge I could drive there without getting too close to Southport itself, so my dad would get a good look at them (and hopefully hear all 8 engines!), without them being silent dots in the distance. Do aircraft tend to come in from the north to avoid Liverpool airport air traffic? If so, what route do they take to the north overland? Does anyone have any flightpath recordings from previous years?

We had tickets for East Kirkby on the 7th Sept, which I went to, but my dad was just too poorly to make the long journey, so I'm desperate to get him the best view I can. A single pass nearby en-route to the display area would be fantastic.

Any help appreciated.

an alternative might be to take your dad to Blackpool instead. The lancs, spitfire and hurricane are due in at 15:05 which suggests they are going to go straight over the sea from Southport. If you get there at least half an hour earlier the sparrows should land at 14:27 after their display. Also the RED10s squirrel due back just after the BBMF. Eurofarce departs 15:15 for it's display, returns after. All the above night stopping so another opportunity on Sunday.
Easier access than Southport....and certainly easier to get out of.

Thanks. Are you saying the BBMF are staying at Blackpool overnight on Saturday? So they'll be flying to the area from Con and over the sea via Blackpool, then flying into Blackpool airport after their display ready for Sunday?
