Hobbyboss 1/72 A6M5 Zero

Post by FTS » Sat Aug 30, 2014 9:35 pm

This is another build for the 'At the Movies' display and will be painted in a scheme to closely match the Zero's from that quite frankly awful Michael Bay crap, Pearl Harbour.

The canons have been removed as they weren't on the movie aircraft. That canopy masking sure was fun! :grr:

I've done quite a bit of work on this in the last few hours. I need to spray the red band around the fuselage and do the prop but that can wait until tomorrow.

The airbrush just wasn't playing ball with the pre-shading

The green was built up using a few different shades of green. I had a little bit of over spray near the tail so I tried a trick which was in SAM this month which is to run a brush dipped in thinner along the demarcation line and it should help blend the two colours. I'm not sure if it's worked though.

Evening chaps. I've done lots of work on this today. I had called it done but i'm not happy with the rising suns so i'll give them a spray to brighten them up. The problem I had was the fuselage band which was very dark compared to the decals. The oil wash I gave it didn't work so well over the decals. I'll probably finish this on Monday as i'm at the Victory Show for the next 4 days reenacting. Feel free to come and see me, point and laugh and all that
