I could cry :'( I was up at 4am this morning with the intention of heading down and when I read on here that it had been said that the B-52's weren't flying today. That possibility coupled with the B-2's walkabout down in the Atlantic I decided that it was looking risky for such a long trip. You live and learn, don't believe anything you read on the internet. And that makes asking this silly but, does the notion that airbases are always quiet and tend to close early on Fridays mean that tomorrow is the day that there really is the possibility of nothing happening?

Don't know how far away you stay, but if you head down you may at least get them all returning, better than nowt.

Cheers gents.

I'm up in Manchester and in work now so a bit far and too late to go today now. I'll book tomorrow off work and try again tomorrow and just hope for the best. This hobby often feels like a non-lethal game of Russian roulette.

That's exactly what it is, if you want predictability and order then train spotting or even worse civil aviation is your game

Go tomorrow and you may get them, if you don't you won't. If I knew this deployment was happening a few weeks back I would've been down for a couple of days for sure, unfortunately I'm covering extra nights at work as holiday relief so no chance of time off this week or next :'(

Anyone able to spot their house, taken yesterday, second B52 can be seen behind starboard wing.

Also quite an interesting read about the RAF pilot that is part of the B2 air crew.

Yip, you can just see the old dispersal area at St Mawgan under the left side of the nose.

I've contacted the guy who created the original patch and he is not happy that the 2nd Bomb Wing have changed his design which he provided to them. They had no design of their own, and with just a few weeks to go he created a patch for them. I have now been told that he's looking at creating another version to reflect the B-2 exercise...

Would be interesting to see whether any of the crews are wearing one of the patches we have bought or a 2d AEG patch

There isn't one and there will not be one. I have emailed the PAO at Whiteman AFB (who I met on Tuesday) and she has assured me this is the case

I was on Quid 80 yesterday and can confirm that the B-2 was refuelled in that area. We had to stop due to a tech issue with the tanker (58-0001), otherwise the plan was to continue for a further 30 minutes. The Boomers were not happy as it was the first time they had fuelled a B-2 and most possibly their last. One in particular was "pee'ed" to say the least; and that was putting it more politely than she did!

All I can tell you is that flying is planned for tomorrow. But, it was also me that said there would be no B-52s flying today! However, both bits of info came direct from Ryan Link, commander of the 96BS in a face to face interview. So it just shows that things can change.

Hi All,
Just to say a big big thank you for everybody who has posted this week... you don't know how brilliant you have all been. Managed to get down on Sunday for the B2'S, but can't get time off work to see anything this week, but the threads have been wonderful/fantastic reading... so much so i am sure work has suffered this week with all the time i have been checking and looking skywards!!!!

Just on another point, does anybody know any movements on Sat, if any....would love to take the lad to see the 52's..

thanks in advance.
