Phantoms, Phantoms and Phantoms

Post by 32FIS » Fri Mar 14, 2014 8:43 pm

In June 1988 I have been to Canada to attend the London, Ont. Airshow which had as theme the 30th anniversary of the F-4 Phantom. At this airshow the organizers managed to get 30 + F-4’s of all kind of different units from the USA and Germany together.

Here some of my pictures of this visit more than 25 years ago when the F-4’s where still very active around the world. I hope you enjoy them.

wow, seen a lot of these pics before, but so good to see them again! This was the London Show I saw featured in Airplane Magazines as a 16yr ols leaving school, and Iknew then I would have to get to London one day! Eventually did in 2001, London must have been one of the best shows for the enthusiast, access to rthe arrivals was fab (look at these shots with the crews in taxiing past!!) and the atmosphere amongst the photographers great too. Unfortunately 9/11 happened and basically that was the catalyst for its demise, pity as I'd have loved to have gone back year on year, I'd have gladly sacrificed a yearly trip to RIAT for it!

It doesn't matter what colour scheme a Phantom is turned out in, RAF Blue grey, USAF Vietnam green and brown, Euro1, 2 tone grey or my favorite the US Navy all black playboy evaluator, it is simply the best looking aircraft ever to take off.

Fantastic set of pictures, fantastic.

Luftwaffe green and grey, Isreali 2 tone brown and green......................................... I could go on :-)

Absolutely stunning , would have loved to have attended that !
A phantom in any colour scheme is a winner in my book , but just look at Vandy 1 ! Wow !
