I believe that there may be some timber operations going on in or to the fringes of the range, possibly using helicopters to extract timber! Also possible Apache Ex due to use range over next few weeks.

I go to Spadeadam on a regular basis and I always marvel at the skill of the rotary pilots especially when they fly down by the waterfall and along the river banks however accidents do happen.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVEo7f7y ... 0TMQM_vUes

Just a note about Spade, and why it may be deactivated for an hour. British gas have a test facility here & 'blow things up' on certain days, I just wonder if this is one of the test days?

Log for Monday 14th, I popped into Carlisle Airport at 12.30pm The Merlin was still parked on the apron.

As I drove towards Spadeadam approaching the Bewcastle turnoff I saw a C130 low level over the range doing a couple of west to east runs had left by the time I arrived

at Wiley Syke.

At 14.30pm Spectre called up 30 miles to the east of the range they wanted to do a systems check but some equipment had gone tech, they promised to come to

Spadeadam in an hour, at the appointed time they called un on 371.875 asking for a direct track to Mildenhall.

Mid afternoon a Merlin was seen transitting the Haltwistle Valley towards Carlisle whether it was the one I had seen at Carlisle earlier or another is open to speculation.

My main reason for going to Spade was the Notam for D510/D510A bet 5.0pm *& 6.0pm I had the company of three other spotters they waited to 17.25pm and left to go

home to Carlisle.

17.30pm Vegas 41 calls up to enter the range but he has to wait as Tribal Flight Tribal 31 & 32 are already doing EW serials with Spade, although they never came below

15,000 feet they could be seen and heard clearly they were fair wizzing around the sky the engine noise was fantastic.

Dateline Spadeadam 14th Aoril, 2014 sunny periods no wind 19 degrees celsius.

Log for Spadeadam, Tuesday the 6th, May, 2014 Mid morning The Station Commander came to Wiley Syke he was showing a Very Senior Officer around the site. On previous visits to Spadeadam Ive met Clive Loader and Glenn Torpy, when he was Marshall of The RAF.

I arrived at 11.00am and heard Venom 11 on the radio to Jackpot Control 241,950 these were clear comms all day, but Spade on 308.775 was broken transmissions.

11.15am Marham handed over to Jackpot for high level work.

12.55pm Javelin 32 Mark 1 Hawk on medium and low level FAC.

13.25pm Marham 27 on medium level sortie at 13.55pm THE GR4 flew an extremely fast wings fully swept low level Show Of Force the GR4 appeared from the southwest
and flew over jackpot position which I think is in The Grey Mare Hill Area.

14.30pm Psycho A Typhoon arrived for 60 minutes playtime all at 10k feet or more.

15.30 Javelin 22 another Leeming Hawk for a 60 miute slot.

My reason for going to Spade today was that on previous Tuesdays there have been F 15s doing EW and last week it was the Rotary.
