RIAT 99 Fairford

Post by roughcutter » Sun Oct 18, 2009 4:30 pm

It's that time of the year again when the season's finished, cameras put to bed and the dark nights are creeping in, and we all start getting nostalgic :(
To get the ball rolling here's a few random snapshots taken from RIAT99 at Fairford, celebrating (then) 50 years of NATO operations (and in my humble opinion probably the last really good show staged there)
Anyway on with the show, enjoy! :pop:

I was part of the Navy team team that won the Tornado loading in the Pit Stop challenge that year, got a few piccies but was working! these shots show the opportunities I missed, these are fantastic, thank you for posting, (the full competion was won by the USAF/48FW, boooo!)

It was a cracking atmosphere for the five days that I was there, as was the weather. Indeed one of the best ever photo sessions I had was on the Monday (departures) up at the Marston Meysey end, where virtually all the fighters were parked. Talk about "wall to wall" aircraft, there was no point in standing in the one place to take pictures, there was so much happening around me!
I'll stick a few more shots up later, thanks for the kind comments Gents. :thumb:
