Purely to keep this going as this era is not my forte and as for airfield identification even worse! A reasonably confident type guess is RE.8 and a wild guess at Duxford although my limited knowledge thinks the dates don't tie up. Hope someone can put me out of my misery soon...

It is an RE.8. Apparently, it has the later sump cowling and the enlarged fin common at training establishments, but never used in active service.

What on earth are those "minarets" on top of the hangar?? Extractor fan vents?? Fire flues(!) ??

For those who may be interested, "jindivik's" photo can be found at http://flyingmachines.ru/Site2/Crafts/Craft25546.htm - the 18th picture down.

To be fair, that particular Scampton airfield (originally called Home Defence Flight Station Brattleby and renamed in 1917) closed in 1919 and was returned to its pre-WWI owners. The buildings and hangars were removed by 1920.

Er - not wanting to take any credit from waddo607, his post came in after my (also) correct guess. No issue but just to clarify

Cannot offer anything either so "open-house" anyway.
