Mildenhall being evacuated due WX ??

Hi all,

Just been told that Mildenhall are sending all the based C-130's to SP due to the storm front arriving tomorrow night ?? Anyone confirm ?

Three MC-130H and thee MC-130P went to Spangdahlem. Not sure if the new MC-130J's have left.

Any idea whether any other assets will leave as well? I hear a few 135s have left for Sigonella.

09-6210 was towed off SOG Row and hangared yesterday morning.

Did MC-130J 10-5714 and MC-130H 87-0023 evacuate as well.

From off the top of me head, I think 87-0023 is away at the moment. Not noticed it about for a week or two. I didn't see 09-5714,
so may of already been hangared or is away.

Everything south of Lincoln is storm force winds and rain. And Lincoln to say abit north heavy rain..but lets face it..who knows!!

Just with them being on the SOG line I believe. No space for them all to be hangared etc

No i don't think it will be that bad, ever since the Oct 87 storm the met office/Insurance people have wet themselves at the slightest anomaly, they have repeatedly warned this week of gusts unto 90mph, if it happens and its a massive IF, then they have done their job and everyone sings their praise, if it doesn't hit us then everyone is too busy breathing a sigh of relief to bother questioning how they got it so wrong again.

What this leads to is them being able to massively overplay things with little chance of any comeback.

For what its worth i think its a massive over reaction, and lets face it, the yanks love an over reaction !!

Who knows....what will be, will be I suppose.........that said if they have re-positioned due to the weather, its the first time I've noticed them do it in 30+ years of
living here...

Please bear in mind that it is the media, yet again, who massively over-hype these (and many other) things. Nothing else is really front page headlines, is it?

The Met Office are not the ones who are doing all the repeat warnings in the media. They only make a sound when it is their normal times for the weather forecast to be broadcast, and the newsreaders' "over-doing-it" promptings are usually brought into perspective.

'The' storm was supposed to kick off here in the south about 21.00hrs this evening - at the moment a slight breeze and some drizzle. Lets hope it is all just hype

I think the weather guys at Mildenhall have a much better system than our met boys, so they will know what is coming, and when.

Bit harsh. The met office were predicting the track of the depression across the UK when the storm hadn't even fully formed, near Boston, some 3000 miles away! With peak winds just 10-15 less than 1987, would you be comfortable leaving $millions of assets out in the open?
