Hi Wesgulf3 , smashing shot . We saw the trail from North Dorset , initially West bound , then a jink to the South West . Thought It was a foreigner intruding into the Salisbury Plain danger areas and being vectored around . Then that long looping right turn back eastwards .Thoughts were a tech problem and turn back to Europe as no descent for Lhr, Lgw or Stn etc. Nothing on Flight radar 24 . Finally disappeared behind Hambledon Hill . No camera !
Your shot was from Heathrow area ? That's 100miles , and it went west of us ! ZJ963 ? I'm not familiar , wot is she ?

Thanks for that , guess she could have been doing secret squirrel stuff over the Salisbury plain areas . It was quite a sight ,a really clear trail turning against a smashing sunset .

Thanks , condor .

Not secret squirrel. Their mission in general, and thus as part of the exercise, is well known and well published.

Hey all!
Iv not seen this post before but I have a few from the past 2 years of having my 20D.
This was what I think is an ex British Army Scout just passing through the area.

British Army Lynx again passing through the area.

Royal Air Force Chinook passing through, gave me quite a bit of warning with the thud of her rotors! Gotta love the sight and sound of a Chinook!

And finally here is the first B787-800 I had chance to photograph, this was a nice surprise, I'm only posting it here because she had the RR Spitfire PR.19 and Jet Provost T.5 with her!

We mainly have Military Helicopters over here but sometimes we get the odd aircraft doing circuits at East Midlands but unless I'm already there I'm not normally that quick enough to snap them!
Hope these are of interest!

Nice shots. But just one thing it's not the Royal Army, just Army. I hope this helps.

The first one is a Westland Scout, the Navy had Wasps and they had wheels.

Nice catches. :thumb:

Oh ok when did they remove the Royal then?
Thanks for telling me about the scout, I wasn't too sure about it in the first place to be honest.

As far as I can remember it's never been the Royal Army just the Army. Wherever you heard or read that it was called the Royal Army is wrong

Thanks John. Live in a lovely small village. House & Garden surrounded by open fields(Sheep & Cows). Only disturbed by the passing of Trains on the Cambrian Line & the RAF/USAFE. :)
