Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
Geoff, I have been deeply disturbed by the goings-on at Tynecastle, but as a consolation I know that after the first five games of next season we will be on the same points total as the dirty Hibees. (zilch)

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
I wouldn't say 20 sorties on average per day was quiet! Even wednesdays and fridays are very busy from around 8.45 till 1.45 when everything is squeezed in to half a day! And that doesn't include any Gr-4s etc. Granted it was quieter when 6sqn were away but its picked up again.ArabJazzie wrote:Mike,Mike wrote:You've lost me there fella, if it was noted as EP on 25/06 - how do you know it was marked up between 10/06 - 25/06 ?
Can anyone tell me why no-one on FC posts Leuchars movements anymore - unless they're visiting aircraft, and even that's like drawing teeth ?
That first part i expect from some other posters here! I take it the events surrounding your team are affecting you just now!!!![]()
I expect people are not bothering with Leuchars much these days as Typhoons dont exactly set their ass on fire when they depart! The place is like a ghost town at times as well with visitors very few and far between!!! Its so bad that you would think the place was shut already!!! Unless someone is keeping them all to themselves which i know he doesnt!I also believe that its usually the same 4/8 jets multiple times that go up on any given day. Added to that there has been 2 foreign deployments means it has been quiet at times and no new deliveries for a few months! Oh and as you point out elsewhere, dont expect an exciting Leuchars log for the next 2 weeks!!! But after that there may be a couple of new airframes for me to chase by then! But i doubt it!!!
Arabest,
Geoff.

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
Point is, most times ive been over, the same 4/8 jets are all that fly! And 2 or 3 GR4s on the overshoot at 500ft+ aint worthy of a note!
With Phantoms and Tornado F3s, there were 2 squadrons of jets plus an overloaded OCU to watch! Now there are just 2x12 jet units who refuse to use afterburner!!! S the place is comparatively quiet these days!

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
ZK313 'EN' arrived around 17:30 today as Leuchars 68, I assume from Coningsby.

Hi Mike,
ZK343/EA was delivered to Coningsby with the same call sign "Leuchars 68".
Cheers

Do any of the local "enthusiasts" have any updates to report?
Chuck was kind enough to post a log for late yesterday afternoon and many thanks to him.

Yes, ZJ921 QO-H returned to RAF Coningsby yesterday morning @ 8.00am. Callsign, Leuchars 79.
Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
Thanks for that, are there any other changes in the Leuchars fleet that you know of?balamorybuzzed wrote:Yes, ZJ921 QO-H returned to RAF Coningsby yesterday morning @ 8.00am. Callsign, Leuchars 79.

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
I believe that ZJ925/QO-R is still with 6Sqn, although it's been a month or so since last noted. Looks like EL is still @ Coningsby and EM is due major surgery there at some point in the very near future, if indeed she hasn't gone south already!Mike wrote:Thanks for that, are there any other changes in the Leuchars fleet that you know of?balamorybuzzed wrote:Yes, ZJ921 QO-H returned to RAF Coningsby yesterday morning @ 8.00am. The rest of the list looks pretty much spot on.
Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
Cheers guys, much appreciated.
Geoff, I see that the Arabs hammered the mighty Dumbarton on Wednesday and didn't the Jambos do well against the equally mighty Raith Rovers the night before?

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
With regards to Radio Frequencies which ones are likely to be in use for the Airshow?, There is a chance I might be coming up on Friday to view arrivals before attending the day itself.

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
With thanks to Gazza, mohawk 68, the following typhoons were noted on the 6Sqn line: ZK310 EL (Now in full 3(F)Sqn markings!), ZK311 EK (Now in full 29(R)Sqn markings!) and ZK342 ED(Still 6Sqn markings), and ZK381 EX sitting alone separately. The other 6Sqn flyers this morning ZK313 EN, ZK346 ER, ZK317 ES and ZK321 EU all taxiied to the 1(F)Sqn HAS Site for the airshow.
Looks like ZK320 EV has been zapped with 41 Sqn markings also. So, all temporary for the airshow, we can probably safely presume!

Re: Based Typhoon & callsign/frequencies listing.
To complete the fake squadron line up, ZK334/FB has temporarily 'joined' 11 sqn, but was in full 1sqn marks on Thursday morning. Sorry if this is old news but I have not seen this change reported before - ZK334 was EC with 6sqn of course.
