Notwithstanding the poor weather forecast this weekend; potential visitors to the museum should be aware that there is a major Motorhome / Caravan event due to take place on the Showground – the museum is open as normal and you can find a few more details in here!

Snow is still falling in the Newark area and with further accumulations of snow overnight it has been decided that the museum will remain closed today.

Thanks Jamie, I'll pass on your comment - you wouldn't think that it was the same aircraft from how it looked a couple of years ago, when the previous 'miracle coating' reacted so badly.
It'll be nice to see it surrounded by lots of other Lightning related items next month - let alone what might be around it on Sunday!!

A couple of recent updates to report firstly the museum’s Berlin Airlift and Icelandic Cod War veteran the Hastings is undergoing a repaint.

Details of some potential access issues during the County Show on 11th & 12th May, 2013 have been outlined on the NAM website – the museum will be open as usual and the best access route is outlined in here.
On the Sunday there is also a Lancaster flypast scheduled that should also been seen from the museum site!

Just a quick heads-up if anyone is going to the Nottinghamshire County on the Newark Showground this weekend and wants some additional aviation highlights!
You can obtain a pass out via the White Gate (on Vulcan Way) to come over to the air museum. The museum has placed a small number of items on temporary loan to the Show Society to help dress their 70th Anniversary of the Dambusters display in the Lady Eastwood Pavilion on the Showground. If you go along there you can pick up a museum brochure with a discount voucher in it.
BBMF Lancaster flypast due on Sunday and don’t forget that there could be extra traffic if you’re travelling in the area as well more details in here!
