Very very nice, love to see old US Navy and Marine stuff like this, especially Phantoms, Crusaders, Skyhawks and really like the Bronco.

Like I said, very very nice! ....

It was indeed an immense airshow in all respects - even the crowd - a million people crammed into El Toro for the show, easy given the free entry and massive L.A. catchment area. Not good for me and my buddy who had to leave for our return flight from LAX prior to the Blue Angels display but they had closed the exits as the U.S. teams don't allow any movement on/off base during their display. Crazy or what?! Any way we made it - just!!
Nearly 200 aeroplanes with some fabulous warbirds, including the CASA/He-111, Albatross, Invader, Conny, as well as the aforementioned Provider and lovely Martin 4-0-4 that was painted up in Pacific Airlines colours. A cracking USMC battle demo, Tomcat as well!! I haven't scanned anything post 1995 yet, so can't post any pics at the moment. Nice crack at it though.. :thumb:

Hi,
I was also at this show....it was a lot better than the 50th Ann show up at Nellis.

Thanks for posting these, I drove past El Toro on a weekend in 1982 when there was nothing going on and would love to have been to an open day. I did manage an open day at Point Mugu though which made up for it.

Hi Jem
Yes it certainly was a good trip considering my 50th birthday fell on the same day as the 50th at Nellis

I seem to remember the Casa/He111 having a flat tyre! El Toro and Nellis on the same trip....we were spoilt!

My buddy and me also made Fallon, Fresno and Yuma shows as well as some cracking base visits to Edwards, Mojave, Point Mugu, North Island, El Centro, Van Nuys, Pima & March museums and Chino. An incredible 2 and a half weeks....
