BBC TV - “Jet! When Britain Ruled the Skies”

Post by NAM Updater » Wed Aug 08, 2012 10:15 pm

Earlier this year the BBC visited various aviation groups in the UK to film pieces for a short series of TV programmes about British aviation.

Earlier today the broadcast schedule was circulated via email here are the details:

“Dear all,

Thank you very much for your contribution in helping to make “Jet! When Britain Ruled the Skies”. This is now the official title for “The Golden Age of Flying”.

Programme 1 – ‘Military Marvels’ will transmit from 9pm-10pm on BBC 4 on Wednesday 22nd August 2012

Programme 2 – ‘The Shape of Things to Come’ will transmit from 9pm-10pm on BBC 4 on Wednesday 29th August 2012

I hope you enjoy the programmes.”

Apart from Newark (2 sessions) I know that they also filmed these programmes at several other locations so there should be some good ‘jet-action’ linked to some thought provoking interviews! :thumb:

At last a programme on the TV to look forward too. Actually did enjoy what I saw of the Olympics but there is only a certain time they can go on for.

A brilliant programme. Being only 21 now and working at Boscombe Down, it makes me say, once again, that I wish I was working there in the 50's and 60's to see such a packed flight line of many different types, compared to the reasonably bleak one I see now. A top documentary indeed.
