Public Access to RAF Waddington
Re: Public Access to RAF Waddington
I dont think walking through a highly sensative airbase at midnight would be very good for your health at all. If serious that side of the airfield would yield very little in the way of aircraft and not going into an security details you wouldnt be welcomed along high dyke (as its marked on the map) unless on official business.

Please tell me this is a wind up thread.
A member of the public contemplating moving to an area based on being able to go for a walk through a secure military establishment twice a day, and in the dark,
and if can't then not moving there.

The High Dyke between the Manchester Road and Transmitter Gates IS a public right of way.
Pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders require an escort from the RAF Police.
Don't think they'd be overly impressed if you tried that on every day...
Anyway - why bother walking? The buses run that route and aren't checked!

Interestingly (and slightly off topic) the google map link in the first post has (what looks like) a Nimrod on the dispersal, nice blast from the past!

David, Washingborough or Heighington might suit your requirements better if you have your heart set on Lincoln. There are a number of circular walks that should meet your needs with good footpaths around those villages. The pubs aren't bad either as destinations for said walks either...davidlaw wrote: BTW It was a serious question. Try finding a small town/village with easy car access (within 10 miles) to a larger city (like Lincoln) and a circular ~2 mile walking route starting very close to where you'd live with relatively wide paths. When you have to walk at least 2 miles and ideally 5 miles a day for health reasons getting the right property so you don't have to drive every time just for a walk.

Used to live in Washingborough. I have calf's the size of elephants. There's even a cycle/walk track that goes from Washingbrough to Lincoln along the old viking way. Hillside estate is right under the flightpath too.

Why not try downloading the North Kesteven Airfield Trail?
