9 - ALL posts must be made in English and readable with no text-speak at all. Text-speak is not regarded as a mode of communication here because it is pure idleness/laziness of the English Language. If you are in doubt of how to spell a word then please use google, a spell-checker or a dictionary.

At least my half brain cell functions well enough to read the forum rules. Image

The way some of the you lot talk in code 2moz could have been anything, tomoz/tomos/toomoz/tomoss.......

He shortened one word? It was still a message easy to read and actually had useful accurate information.
And whilst we're on the subject, what on earth is a "centiment", certainly not in any Oxford English dictionaries I've managed to find!

There's a difference between posting intelligibly and posting in shorthand - sorry, "text speak" as people on this forum insist on calling it. Next up, must we say "Royal Air Force Waddington" rather than Waddo? Would that be preferable?

He has a point about waddo/royal air force waddington ( I missed capitals on purpose). A debate about grammar and spelling is a little irksome ( see dictionary for definition of irksome). I read the forum for enjoyment and information, not to have an English lesson. Please take this in the manner it's meant and not to add fuel to the fire! I for one don't really care whether it's tomorrow or tomoz as Long as the info is good. Many thanks to all who post on here in whatever guise as without whom we wouldn't have a forum.

I've just been looking at some FLIR action from Iraq/Afghanistan, on youtube, and I'm amazed at the poor communications skills being used, and the scope for errors. It's not a spelling or grammar thing, it's being able to understand the message in the first place. "Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance."

It's in code, it's not supposed to be understandable! If you and I could inderstand it, so could the Taliban and that would be pointless, wouldn't it...

Appreciate any confirmation of serial codes tie-up.

They will be broken down at Leeming mid July for 1st flight back to Korea starting on 19th July.

When you hear guys on the radio unable to understand if they are being asked to hold fire or fire, it isn't a code thing. It's being able to understand what is being said, not whether it is in code or not.
