Re: Post Your Screenshots
I had a go at SF2 but was too much like the old 90's games where you had very little on the ground to go by. Flying the Hunter around for a bit and then the F-105...
Too arcadie for me though.

You should give it a go mate, if its patched to the latest, got modded etc (there are some amazing ground objects etc!), then its as good as, if not better, than LOMAC.
I've had some real hard fights, last night, i managed to run a pursuing SU-27 out of missiles by decoying, i couldn't manoeuvre to his six (i was in an F-4E), so i was planted in burner at 240 kts doing circles in the sky trying to keep the SU off me. Long story short - he ran out of missiles and gun ammo, so after a few circles - HE RAMMED ME! An AI adversary took me out by ramming.

Give it a go mate, the dark side awaits!

Re: Post Your Screenshots
I did give it a go with all the mods and patches. (pack).
Just reminds me of the old Janes series
Even the DCS Warthog has the same, the usual....... i need a totally immersive theatre to get me back to those sort of games now. Just wish they brought out a proper AC130 game

Re: Post Your Screenshots
Heres a list of some of the ground objects that will try to end your flight, these are from my install, there are MANY MORE to be gained from certain sites . . .
GAZ-66's.
Pantsir ADS.
SA-2's all the way up to SA-18's.
ZSU's in various flavours.
90mm AAA.
Roland ADS.
Crotale ADS.
The list goes on . . . .. . .
There are various ground targets, from SCUD sites to Industrial centres.
I really havent wanted to reinstall my FS since the crash, SF2 is going to be modded to death on my rig - because its fast, fluid, graphics are amazing for the objects (aircraft, ground etc etc), there are photoreal terrains (i have an AMAZING Anatolian terrain, full scale, and loaded to the hilt with all sorts of nasties!)

Re: Post Your Screenshots
Just been testing out my latest project, the Oshkosh Tactical Wheeled Tanker. It's taken many hours over about two months and could be a lot better but it's only for scenery so not too worried. It's my first 3D model and all made from a block... i'm quite pleased with it, considering i never read the manual or instructions on how to model
The scenery is the "latest" FARP as of this months exercise on SPTA. The layout is the same pretty much complete with fuel bund in a hardcore/sand structure (will re-do this in time).
Unfortunately once you convert the 3D model to MDL it loses some of the detail... so it looks a lot better in the 3D modeller.
The 3D Model

And how it looks once converted for FSX Acceleration

And below, scenery made tonight of the latest FARP for Pashtun Dawn/Jaguar as of Winter 12-1.
The Oshkosh, Fuel bund and hoses are my own, the rest are various scenery objects downloaded from simviation and flightsim.com.

Apache flying over two friends cars (Mick and Rick Ingham) (i'm sure they will be glad i added them in...
)
You can see them up on the top right.

Coming in over the former place where photogs were allowed but now the approach

Will make the fuel bund larger to reflect on the exercise. Few other bits and bobs to do too....

Looks awesome!
Re: Post Your Screenshots
Gotta say Rich - that is simply stunning for a self taught first time - I'd not have the first clue about 3D modelling, even FFD was done with other freeware objects!RichC wrote:Just been testing out my latest project, the Oshkosh Tactical Wheeled Tanker. Re: Post Your Screenshots
Thanks Dave,
It was Olicat who spurred me into making the model. He was doing something and told me what he was using so i downloaded it that night and drew a rectangular block and within 30mins i was creating my first vehicle with no instructions at all.
It is done in Google Sketchup 8 which is free and the only help i needed was during texturing the wheels, i had to ask FSDeveloper as they were not showing. But all sorted (did it myself as i just pressed a button and they appeared !
The Oshkosh is not 100% realistic, the tanker trailer itself is not the correct shape (its half moon rather than round and a few bits are incorrect but it works fine for what i need.
I have made a rather scrubbed up Jackal 2 as well but i am really not pleased with it so i might start again... but it is only for a static object which won't be seen close up and from above anyway.
The next edition with have a remodelled front and roll bars (round instead of square) and a cage around the spare wheel. Plus textured tyres and so on. The 50cal needs to be higher too. Don't want it too detailed as FPS will suffer.
Not pleased with it at all at the moment as said, pretty pants looking. Hence why i haven't placed it into scenery yet.

I am, in the process of making a Panther CLV with automatic 50cal on the top. This is done in a completely different way and i am using blueprints to get it accurate instead of the previous two which are done just by using a rectangular block and pictures (my own photos). to go by.
By using blueprints, everything is accurate dimension wise and the outside is 99% accurate (i'm not that good yet).
So far the Panther has taken 3 attempts and so far around 2 months and more hours than the Oshkosh by far.
