I had a trip round RAF Shawbury yesterday with Stu, mentioned the 2 x Bucc story to him, turns out he brought 2 before he told me, so he got 4 :grr:

1/72 Beginners entry Trumpeter Sea Fury FB11

Post by Joe Malkin » Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:58 pm

I started this lovely aircraft earlier today. For some reason, the sprue shot has disappeared and I haven't yet taken any pictures of the work I've done. However I do have a picture of the nice box artwork

Hopefully there'll be a photo update soon

It may not be the airbrush, the paint may need a bit more thinning. Did you try to add some more water to the paint and then put your finger over the nozel, pull the trigger very carefully and it will blow air back into the colour cup/pot and this will not only blow any blockage back but it will mix the paint with the water a bit better. You must do it carefully otherwise you may re decorate your conservatory and I dont want to upset Ben (especialy if you have just broke his airbrush  )

Thank you!
So far I've painted and weathered the cockpit module and painted the fuselage internals. Hopefully there'll be some pics soon

I'd agree with Shaun - sounds like the paint is just too thick. Try adding a bit more water until it works. Blast water through the airbrush to get rid of all the thick paint.

If it is broken, I'll send you the web address for a replacement. They are not expensive. :)

With Uni exams finishing on Friday  , I finally started the Bucc. Here is the progress so far.
Base coat for the cockpit.

After this I found that I had no black paint so had to borrow some. In the meantime, I made a start on the airbrakes with the flightpath detail set.

Image

I got some paint this morning and started work picking out the detail in the tub and panels. After this I applied a wash and drybrushed to further highlight the detail.

That's all for now...
Should be some more during the week but not next weekend as I'm off to Toulouse to tell Airbus to sort out the A400M :P

Those air brakes look impressive, is it one piece or did you have to stick bits to them?

Mainly one piece with the strakes on top and bottom as separate pieces.

Love to see one of your navy planes from your stash in the comp, the more entries the better the comp will be, :thumb:

Good luck Joe with the build, that's a nice muscle plane...!!!

Hi Nick,

This looks like a cracking build and in these markings I'm sorley tempted to get one myself. Looking through your pics has answered my first questions as to whether you can set the flaps and slats 'down'. Re the panel lines - I read a review that the older Hasegawa F-16s in 32nd scale kits had raised rather than recessed panel lines - what is the deal with this kit? If they are raised, how does this impact applying a weathering wash? Or does it mean you have to go the whole hog and sand them down and re-engrave them (not something I'm confident at doing!). Do you have the option of positioning the air brakes in the open position?

Finally, do you get a good weapons load-out with the kit?

Thanks and looking fwd to seeing your build updates, best wishes

Dan

cheers mate, It does have raised panel lines and rivets i'm unsure as to weathering as i dont often do it. The airbrakes can be set open or closed :thumb: . Theres a very good weapons range bombs and missiles :thumb: .

Evening all, finally I can upload some pictures of my porgress on the 29! :) Not had much time to do anything else but I have done some looking on the internet for some references materials. So far the Tub is installed and looking as though its done. Still a little tidying up to be done. Next sep in the build is to mate the two halves of the fuselage together and get the tails attached. Here is a few pics of the 29 as it is now....
