From what I've been told (and observed), it seems Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays are your best bet

Cheers

Or if you only want to give it a half day Friday mornings usually see about 4-6 jets go up about 10 and returning by midday ish.
Not sure of things have changed much lately but generally looking at 6 jets going up AM and PM first being about 10am? and back by 12.
PM sorties used to be about 1500 and back about 16.30,but then again things may have changed.

Recently, monday afternoons seem to be getting quite busy from around 1pm, and continuing into the early evening. This has been bucking the trend. The same can be said of friday mornings!!!

You can usually bank on 2 sets of flights tues, wed, thurs 10am ish and 2.30/3pm ish, although not always, thursdays can be quiet!!!

Hope this has helped,

Michael

6 up in the morning (well I say 6 up, I'm pretty sure only 5 departed, 6 came back)

6 up in the afternoon

Also a few Tornados from Lossie, one of which was a emergency diversion

We stayed till the sun set and then walked back. Talking of walking, it takes about an hour to get the right side of the threshold from the Stables for anyone else thats planning to go that hasn't been before. Next time I think we're going to camp down by the beach, get there the evening before so that we're ready straight away in the morning

It would certainly be easier if you get a vehicle all the the way to the wood, in Larry it would be easy. I may just do it next time anyway, maybe knock on the Stables door to see if its ok to do it.

Many thanks to people that tweeted me with instructions, and of course the assitance on here. Photos will be getting done shortly

Tony
By stables do you mean the farm house at the big red gate outside the crash gate at Leuchars.

If it is just drive through and close behind you then do the same with the nest gates.Until you get to a single green beam gate park car there and walk up through forest and onto beach.

Takes a good bit of time off your journey.
