What was the story behind P3 "215" earlier today, it was doing circuits when I arrived at around 1415 landed about 1430 taxied round by the Southern taxiway only to take off again 1440 without shut down or pax on/off, then preceded to carrying out more circuits seemed a bit weird?

If anyone was down the 05 Approach when they changed Runways at 1500ish would've got stunning topsides of the P3 as it was turning very tight onto finals.

P3 215 doing circuits on Thursday was cleared by the tower to do a roller, however, when ATC queried as to why he was seemingly now landing the crew replied to the effect that they landed late and the speed had bled off so they decided to land, as taking off again would be rather difficult. This surprised ATC somewhat who had got a Falcon 20 on short finals, and he was advised to ' go round ' but by now he had twigged what was going on and was already overshooting. This happened roughly at the time they changed runways , so the P3 just drew off the active , taxied all the way round , then took off again on 23 to join for circuits on 05.... hopefully without upsetting ATC's plans again ..

That sounds more like a mission than a departing callsign? Unless its the Sigonella aircraft doing a mission then carrying on home?

Aaaaah Ball ox, wish I'd known they were flying on a Saturday, I would have gone up for that. :(

Are they flying on Sunday?

I saw an Orion flying over Hawick at 5.20PM tonight, was that one of them?

Flying yes but sorties only with no circuits due to noise abatement rules on a Sunday.

Would appear the USN P-3Cs are using their arrival callsigns for their departures. So, if you see one OTT and want to know what it is, it should be as follows.

Navy LF 01 - 158567/LF-567
Navy LF 07 - 162999/(LF)-999 (Does not actually carry LF on the tail, but is assigned to that unit.)
Navy LF 08 - 158215/LF-215
Navy LF 16 - 161333/LF-333 (CAG)
Navy LF 24 - 161012/LF-012

Navy LF 01 & 08 departed today, Monday 17th.

Re P-3s
Can anyone ID the two which were working the Garelochhead / Clyde Estuary area at 1800 on Sunday 16th?
Thanks in advance

The only two up around then were LF-333 and LF-012 to my knowledge.

So,
161333 (Callsign: 5SU *not 100% on the callsign*)
161012 (Callsign: 4PP)

Today saw 161333/LF-333 depart as 'LF-13' and 162999/LF-999 depart as 'LF-49' but from what I'm being told, 162999/LF-999 'LF-49' has actually arrived back at RAF Lossiemouth, potentially a problem. The final aircraft, 161012/LF-012, is supposed to be going later and might be using 'LF-24'.

Will update as I get updated.

I understand that 161012/LF-012, calling 'Navy LF02', is calling to go at 1500z/1600L.

162999 has departed again. The C-40 is wanting to go and the P-3C 161012 could be going fairly soon aswell.

Was there not a USN C26 Metro in late on Sunday past?
