119.225 Due to him having to be in the hold for 30-40mins RAF Lyneham Tower gave him the choice of Diverting to Brize But he replyed that thay have cargo to off load at Lyneham so they will re-main In the hold for 30-40mins.11:31am the KC just flew over Melksham with the beautiful sound of thoughs 707 Engines.

Lyneham Tower have now said hold at Oakly.

There Callsign Brazilian 2401

11:42 The Brazilian KC Just Flew over Melksham again looks like it is down wind 06 But Lyneham Still want them to Hold.

Yep pretty gutted - Lyneham could of been a bit more organised with the De-iceing of the runway. The C-137 done well holding for about an hour and a half considering he said he only had 50 mins of fuel left. I dont know why Lyneham ATC didnt sugest a touch and go...

Anyway the Brazilian ground guys jumped in a car with the cargo and are enroute Brize - the aircraft followed MAG 221 (DC-8) which also diverted...

Thats me done now until next year - happy xmas!

You Realy would of thought as Lyneham is an RAF base that they would have been more organised with there de-iceing like you said. Plus if thay knew these aircraft were jue in then thay should of got there asses in gear realy.

LOL.. Tell Me about it! Organisation is Aweful here at lyneham... Anyone remember hte Airbus falling off the runway in the snow last year? That was poor snow clearing.. they left 3 foot of snow on the runway each side.

Also last year.. We had to Marshal the DC8 from 06 threshold all the way to the Apron.. as the snow ploughers had left big mounds of snow both side of the taxi way. Had to sit on back of the follow me truck and guide it left and right through the mounds! rediculus!

Nothing on SBS - heard a herc just now but sounded RAF - i expect it might be the DC-8, flight trackers down so no way of checking and cant hear anything on the scanner.
