Just a little reminder people, 2 weeks to go for those that fancy it.

Re: Merryfield open evening 2011
Ha, was just about to start a new thread for this, then I see you've bumped this one
I'll be there, planning to hang around a little longer than last year and get those sunset shots, weather permitting of course

Re: Merryfield open evening 2011
The only reason i go is for the sunset shots as the display is hard to photograph due to the setting sun right in your eyes. thats if it is sunny though!
Saw Seamus and Gary last year unknowningly it seems standing next to each other i think when the Merlin and Apache were taking off and some gits were stood infront of all the photographers not moving....

My dad and I will be going, if the weathers ok. Are there any food wagons at the show?
Andy.

Ill be honest mate, i cant remember!BOLAR 01 wrote:My dad and I will be going, if the weathers ok. Are there any food wagons at the show?

I would think though that for a show that is so short (3hrs max), they wouldnt bother. I may be wrong though!!
Better safe than sorry - grab a bite or two on the way, or take stuff in with you.
Unless somebody knows different?

Re: Merryfield open evening 2011
This Open evening is designed for the locals and land owners to come and see the noisy beggars that annoy them all year round, but its turning into a free loading spotters event!
Re: Merryfield open evening 2011

I'm a local, i live 23 miles away as the helicopter flies and i regularly get Seakings and Lynx operating over me enroute and from Merryfield before Yeovilton

GaryScott is a local too living in Wellington he gets the same as me but closer

I did notice the influx of photogs last year compared to other years, perhaps we shouldn't have posted all our sunset pics up

Re: Merryfield open evening 2011
Living in Taunton, I'm even more local
Weather is looking potentially dodgy for tomorrow, could be lucky and dodge the showers, or (more likely) get drenched by them all!

Re: Merryfield open evening 2011
I kick myself for not being to go to the biggest free open evening in the UK in 2005.
They held the open evening during the Ex Eagles Strike 2005. 45 helicopters were on base (Chinooks, Merlins, Gazelles, Lynx, Apaches and of course not including the ones from Yeovilton and Westlands).... but the weather was the same, everyone got drenched in the thunderstorm.
I shall be elsewhere for the day also trying to dodge the showers and will be popping into MF on the way home if its sunny enough!
