Late Night Flying

Post by mcewenfan » Sat Mar 19, 2011 10:50 pm

Bolar 11 just ripped off the runway at 22:49 Saturday evening. Bolar 13 and 16 as well.
Two others left about 5-10 mins earlier but scanner was in bag so no idea who they were.

Now 6 looking for Exon flight.

6 fighters flew over the house 23:02 nice to watch them go over, flashing red tail lights

From the news coverage on BBC, Sky etc. it seems Ghadafi was given a bit of a pasting by planes and tomahawk missiles.

BBC - Military officials are said to be assessing the damage after at least 110 missiles were fired by the US and UK.
Sky - The millitary action launched on Saturday is the first British involvement in what planners have codenamed Operation Ellamy, as part of a multinational effort permitted by UN Security Council resolution 1973.

Yep watched them depart, all tooled up with LGBs and was a mix of 492 and 494 jets. Took a while to depart though as one f15 went tech and taxied back to the hot pits. So an hour and 45min wait brought us to 1am and they finally departed. And they didnt hang around either all 4 roared off into the night sky which im sure the neighbours enjoyed lol. The ground crew also gathered to wave them off which was a nice touch. So lets hope the return home safetly. Good luck panther flight!

If Tonight is anything like it was last night!!! Just SW of Newmarket was the busiest I have ever known it, We even had the Tornado flight return to base at 4am :P as well as all of the KC135 returning to Base, to say it was a busy night was an understatement!
