A Rather Warm Shuttleworth Festival of Flight

Post by MFoster » Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:09 am

With only having one day free for the Shuttleworth Festival of Flight this year, it took a bit of weighing up the options to decide which day to go for, but in the end, the better looking forecast and the chance to catch the Typhoon in the evening light (cancellation turned out to be a bit of a blessing) I purchased a ticket for the Sunday!

As always an absolutely stunning day out at one of the finest locations for an airshow in the UK, topped off with all of the Edwardians managing to get up and fly which really was magical.

Thanks for sharing these and good to see that the weather was suitable for the veterans to get airborne. It looks as if they gave the grass a good trim, so the English Electric Wren could fly.

Thanks Mustang! The wren ended up doing about 4 or 5 circuits amazingly, it looked like it kept hitting a thermal

Stunning shot of the Spit/Corsair break. Is nt that a Wirraway with the Yak in #6?

A Boomerang which is a composite. Marked as A46-139 and operating with civil registration NX32CS.

Great photos Matt, thank you!

Also, I have noted the small circular window behind the cockpit on the Spitfire PR.XIX, anyone know what is this for?

I can't find any info on the web...

Thank you for the nice comment! I believe the window is to house the aerial photography camera - which is what the PR stands for in the name "Photo Reconnaissance"
