Noticed this earlier. I assume this will affect things for the next few days or so.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
Putting a few more wind turbines in the North Sea will sort that out.
More seriously, I wonder what the root cause is? Logistic? Limited supply?

Re: Notam for Fuel.
Thanks for the response. While the closure of a local refinery isn't ideal and rail freight from Essex seems crazy, with good planning supply should still be possible. Unless that is, there was an unexpected peak in demand and the supply chain couldn't respond quickly enough. Interesting situation.

I would have thought that the last week or so of military movement's was a bit unexpected. I am sure they have people working on it!verreli wrote: ↑Sun Jun 22, 2025 7:37 pmThanks for the response. Re: Notam for Fuel.
Yes all down to Mr Ineos closing the refinery at Grangemouth and we are now reliant on a train from the Isle of Grain in Kent
Would like to think a trainload of fuel enroute, hopefully someone with insider knowledge might be tuned in and can update.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
There's a path every weekday for the below train to Carlisle, which then operates to Prestwick the following day. Only operates when required and doesn't look to be operating today.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
The last time I was up, there were what I think were fuel wagons in the sidings near RW12 threshold.

D.C.
As Mike Zellar would say 'as a matter of interest' which freight operator runs the 'as-&-when'; they'll need summat more powerful than a 66 via that routeing.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
The airport has a special fuel station on sidings next to the main Glasgow to Ayr line and it's from here that the fuel is pumped under the A77 directly into the storage tanks within the airport boundary. Quite a few engineers working on the equipment today when I passed.Black Mike wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 1:37 pmThe last time I was up, there were what I think were fuel wagons in the sidings near RW12 threshold.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
Train comes to Prestwick with a single Class 66 loco which can haul approx 2000 tonnes.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
GBRf bought some type 60s from EWS/DB-they'll handle those loads.
Amazingly, on my rail travels I've yet to see one in their colours. Always liked their original liveries until they were graffitied with EWS vinyls.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
None of the paths have been activated this week but this is the next path in the system that could run tomorrow:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/servic ... 6/detailed
It runs as maximum 20 wagons with a single 66, it has to split in Carlisle and run as 2 seperate trains as the siding at Prestwick only holds 10 wagons.

Re: Notam for Fuel.
a good opportunity to invest in infrastructure to improve operating resilience.
Re: Notam for Fuel.
The 20 wagons referred to are the smaller 45 ton type which were the norm a few years ago and are now mostly withdrawn.davidoFI wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 11:56 amNone of the paths have been activated this week but this is the next path in the system that could run tomorrow:

The train runs with 10 of the larger type which take approx double the capacity of the smaller ones and weigh in at around 100 tonnes per wagon.
Hopefully it will turn up tomorrow.
