Israel and Iran plus USA bombs Iranian nuclear facilities

Post by reheat » Fri Jun 13, 2025 11:08 am

Sky stating some 200 Israeli aircraft involved. Hope Israel’s dome protection works as good as last time. 6 scientists reported dead. This is going to get ugly I suspect. Not good.
Regards,

Steve.

Unfortunately not new.

Its part of a repeating cycle:

Iran builds something (enrichment facility, powerplant, 'research' centre) to build a nuclear bomb to use, lets be honest, on Israel.

Israel rightly has an "oh ****" moment and removes it, either though:

cyber attacks - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyBlh8T ... annel=fern
or
airpower - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFObTJxFuWI

This is just the latest iteration, but with Iran getting increasingly incensed with Israel replicating the Charlie-brown-football analogy, they may well escalate.

that would not, as you say, be pretty.

On ADS-B it shows a Huge area of Clear air space in the area with flights diverted over other countries.

Iran reporting to have shot down at least 2 Israeli aircraft. Let's see if they can put some proof where their big mouths are.

Years ago, I went with a group to look at the Israeli Air force. It was a superb trip, but I felt really uncomfortable withe the constant 'we are always on a war footing here' attitude. It seems that the country could never be wrong it whatever it did or who they killed. It was not a pleasant atmosphere to be in.

So as we speak its a slagging match chucking missiles between Israel and Iran - both claiming hits,

Been mentioned on BBC News that we are sending more fighter jets to Middle East. Presume this will be Akrotiri, and I sincerely hope they do not get involved in any way.

Me too. This is one we really ought to sit out on. The Yanks aren’t exactly showing Europe a great deal of support right now, so I don’t see why we should go crashing in to support them and their mate. The pair of them hardly need our help anyway, and if we keep well out of it, we should hopefully not get dragged in to have to defend our own people and assets in the region.

Where is our carrier group at present? I have a feeling it’s somewhere around there right now isn’t it? Unfortunate timing if so.

I share your hope.

As an aside; Why do news stations and papers continually refer to JET fighters? I believe the Dominican Republic was the last air force to operate prop jobs and they were retired a few decades ago. Mustangs were replace by 6th hand Vampires.

I believe the Vampires were all retired by 1974, whereas the P-51’s soldiered on until 1984.

Given that an F-35 off HMS Prince Of Wales made an emergency landing in India last night. Its a lot further away than that.

Thanks for that, although I read the Mustangs were by then allocated to Ground Attack, not Fighter duties.

Anyway, back on thread;
Sir Keir Starmer has announced additional British fighter jets are being deployed to the Middle East as a “contingency support” in the region.
Chancellor Rachel Reeves today insisted Britain is not at war despite sending more RAF jets to the Middle East, but said the UK could play a military role defending Israel from ongoing Iranian attacks.

The final sentence from Rachel says a lot.

They were short of Iron Dome missiles after last year’s scuffle. I’m sure they’ll have managed to restock, but they must be going through a hell of a lot of them at this rate.

I'm from Hampshire and we're very responsible people, what do you mean?
