??USMC support flights??
??USMC support flights??
I suspect with the rumoured USMC F-35 detachment coming up in approx 3 weeks, we should start to see some support flights in the next week or so. Fingers crossed this deployment materialises

Re: ??USMC support flights??
Looking forward to this - long overdue a trip to Lossiemouth
Heard 27 or 28th of April for the Marine Corps F-35 also something about choppers to Kinloss?

Re: ??USMC support flights??
Scramble has 28th for the 35s, also has 7th May as start date for the Belgians into Kinloss
Re: ??USMC support flights??
VMFA-542 , I think was mentioned.
Re: ??USMC support flights??
Could we expect any flying on may 5th? Or is VE Day a Bank Holiday?
Re: ??USMC support flights??
I'd be surprised, sure its May day bank holiday too.
Cheers Niall

Re: ??USMC support flights??
Afternoon gents,
Is there any confirmation yet for the arrival of the F-35’s?
Need to come from Manchester and looking and using a hire car rather than my own so would like to get it booked soonest.

I would image towards the end of next week but nothing confirmed yet.
Fence talk suggests they're going into the southern HAS site. If they do, they'll be difficult to see from the outside, unless they're either outside a HAS or on 2 Sqn's line in the HAS site.

Re: ??USMC support flights??
Unconfirmed reports now seem to point towards the F35s have actually cancelled .
Also there seems to be a lack of information as to what is actually involved on this exercise
Does anyone have any information regarding known participants.

Re: ??USMC support flights??
Mostly Naval live fire and target drones, aircraft in past have been low key and mainly used for launching sub and super sonic drones, although I think the US have retired the AQM-37, so not sure what they use now.
Re: ??USMC support flights??
I've also heard the USMC have cancelled

No surprise really, it wasn’t looking good when no pre deployment visits were carried out.
