Leuchars - 17 April 2025

Post by TomG » Sat Apr 19, 2025 7:33 am

A rather damp afternoon at Leuchars for the arrival of Jigsaw 01, 02 & 03 from Wattisham. Quite a sight to see these three coming down the approach, memories of Herk formations roaming Scotland in past years.

That’s a brilliantly composed photo you’ve got there, well done. Thanks for sharing it.
Good to see Leuchars seeing a bit more action recently.

Great shot! I remember the days of Hercules formations , I remember seeing a 5 ship a few times low through the Usk & Wye valleys. I always remember the callsign "Startrek" formation 😊

Wow that's a fantastic picture of the 3 Atlas' approaching or landing at Leuchars - Great to see the runway back in operation - , it reminds me as it has of various other posters of the 3 Ship RAF Hercules we used to experience in the past, I personally remember being up North at one time and we visited the Soldiers Monument (can't remember exactly where it is?) when 3 RAF Hercules came over low level right over us it was awesome. Unfortunately I hadn't started my Aviation Interest at that time but to see 3 Hercs at low level like that is fantastic.

Hi Adderman, yes that’s the one, It was the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge the very one. Had always dreamt of a similar sighting of something like Tornados or Typhoons but Tornados are now unlikely only chance would be Typhoons but who knows.. - may have to settle for A.400Ms though…
