The fourth Ford Class Aircraft Carrier currently due to be laid down in January 2026.
Miller family members were in attendance when the US Navy conducted the First Cut of Steel ceremony in August 2021, during the Biden presidency.
Does anyone think that the current DEI “cancellations” being carried out by the US administration will mean that the proposed name USS Doris Miller will make it going forward?

CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
Re: CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
If Trump finds out he will personally order to rename the ship. Probably bearing the name of the greatest president, business man and person ever to walk the earth. USS Donald J. Trump, the best ship ever.

And the first to be sunk by one of the Chinese hypersonic missiles.
Re: CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
Chinese hypersonic missles? Wasn’t that a Sam Fender song?
Re: CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
If they continue with the policy of naming carriers after past presidents then Uss Donald J Trump should be CVN-85 and the Joe Biden CVN-86
83 is already allocated to GW Bush
84 should be Obama
And so on

Re: CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
CVN-84 is likely to be last of the Ford class of carrier so the next vessel and thus class should be Trump class carriers - if aircraft carriers are still needed in c.2040.
Re: CVN-81 and anti DEI measures
I asked a former USN officer if we'd ever see a USS Richard M Nixon and he replied "In time".
Then I asked about a USS Trump; "Hopefully on a submarine, so we hopefully never see it"
