F-4, SU-22 and Buccaneer.

Post by jakdaw » Sat Apr 29, 2023 6:13 am

Driving past former RAF Scampton (yep that feels strange) all heavily wrapped in white plastic and parked at the end of the runway (A15/Hackthorn end) are the F-4, Su-22 and Buccaneer. Just posted in case anyone is interested in catching these, long term residents.

Well, technically you can’t catch them if they are heavily wrapped in white plastic…
Any plans for their future?

Well depends on what you "technically" call spotting/togging they are there, we all have different rules, I make no judgement. As for the future I guess the plan to fly if needed/required by HHA are long gone. A museum/heritage centre was a plan but the use for the airfield seems to have taken a different and emotive turn. The fact that they are wrapped gives hope for their future.

Hi All
Phantom, Buccaneer now uncovered and front half of SU-22 now also uncovered. Thought a Museum would have picked these up by now.
Cheers

I spoke to the HHA guy on the stand at RIAT and he said they wanted to move them for keeps!
