Well Peter, I think this is the most interesting post / article that I have ever seen and read. Background information brilliant, and the photography is just in a league of its own
The PhAF has certainly had their value from those frames, I guess pretty scarey from the pilots view on some days and I think a medal for you for putting forward your plan and securing it
Air to air views simply outstanding and totally unique

Thanks for posting, a very enjoyable read

Peter, what an absolutely amazing post, astounding!
A really interesting story, you certainly had an adventure in the Philippines, there has to be the semblance of a potential book there (seriously).
And as for your photos, they're simply stunning (pre digital too). What makes your pictures so endearing, is simply that you've managed through them to convey the atmosphere of your time out there. The Trojans are all battle-scarred, and care-worn, which gives them a certain rustic charm, shabby chic. Congratulations mate, fabulous post, thanks for sharing this with us. :thumb:

Thank you all for your kind comments which are much appreciated and do encourage me to post some other "stories".
My visit with the PAF's17th Attack Squadron was indeed a rare opportunity as I could move around freely to take all these pictures.

Fantastic. How battered are they? It'd be good to see one in that condition on the display circuit here. Most warbirds look pristine, factory fresh.
Pristine looking warbirds are much easier to maintain, which is also the reason many are painted in a gloss finish.

Only if they enjoy weathering ;)

Maybe one day, but I have to scan many other slides first which unfortunately is very time consuming.

Cheers, Peter

I worked as ground crew on a CASA352 in the 80s. Ours was pretty battered, dirty, exhaust and oil stains. We regularly had comments about it, positive mostly, occasionally negative.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Can only echo what has already been said

What an absolutely visually stunning and interesting post.

Even a 'normal' T-28B Trojan is great to see if only in a museum

I hadn't heard of the New People's Army Rebellion in the Philippines - from what I read it's still going on after all these years!
